With news of another Polar Vortex hitting the East Coast this week, it seems like winter is here to stay a while.

Instead of bunkering down in the city, escape to a nearby ski resort to really enjoy the snow and winter.

Snowshoe Mountain, in West Virginia, is a quick escape that really takes advantage of the snowy weather. With over 244 acres of skiable terrain, Snowshoe Mountain offers an unforgettable weekend vacation. Here are our favorite things to do once you’re there:

Winter Activities:

–       Ski the Backcountry

–       Channel your inner Olympian on one of the 6 Terrain Parks, spanning over 26 acres

–       See a concert (The next concert is OAR on March 6-8, 2014)

–       Take an off-road adventure tour in a Polaris RZR or drive your own snowmobile

–       Go Tubing (fun for the whole family)

–       See the Stars rise at the Planetarium

–       Relax at the spa

Summer Activities

And make sure to plan a trip to come back during summer, for completely different yet totally inspiring adventure activities. Our favorites are:

–       Hiking in one of the five state parks nearby

–       Whitewater rafting down New River Gorge

–       Rock climb with Seneca Rock Guides

–       Go mountain biking

–       Explore some of the Civil War historic sites

–       Visit the National Radio Astronomy Observatory

–       Get muddy in a Polaris RZR Tour
