When you’re planning your honeymoon there are several things every married couple needs: relaxation and seclusion, adventure, beauty, peace and something extra special. Your honeymoon destination needs to have that IT factor.

Introducing St. Kitts, the newest hot spot Caribbean honeymoon destination that checks everything off that list and will make friends and family green with envy when they see your pictures. Here are nine ways St. Kitts will make your honeymoon an event to remember.

1: The island feels like a world away BUT isn’t

A short non-stop flight from Miami to the Caribbean Island of St. Kitts is only three hours and with connections from American or Delta, you can take your trusted airline down there with ease. And better yet, opening in Mid- 2014, you can now pay a little bit more for luxury service when going through customs. The soon to launch U-Lounge takes the frustration and long wait times out of customs and immigration, and allows you to sit back (with a cocktail in hand) and have all the work done for you. Now that’s how to start a vacation!

2: Romance and Privacy

Feel like you’re on your own deserted island when you book a private one bedroom, open bathroom guest house at Belle Mont Farms at Kittitian Hill. Planning to open in late 2014, this will be the IT resort in the Caribbean. Set around organic farms and built into the natural landscape of the mountain, with unobstructed views of the Caribbean Sea from your bed (or infinity pool) this is truly the perfect spot to unwind and celebrate your new married life.

3: Incredible island Adventures

After sunbathing and relaxing, it’ll be time to spike those adventure levels and St. Kitts is ready for you. Whether you like to see the rainforest from the air or the ground, they have you covered. Try fast flying zip lining with Sky Safaris to see the rainforest from a very unique perspective or go on a guided hike to learn more about the rainforests unique species, plants and maybe even see a monkey!

4: Unbelievable Water Adventures

Working up a sweat on land will make you want to run and jump in the ocean. With all the different water activities you could really plan a different one each day. Our favorites: snorkeling, stand up paddleboard, swimming, diving, kayaking and, wait for it, Flyboarding, a unique ‘walking (or flying) on water experience’.

5: Soft Adventure

Ride the St. Kitts Scenic Railway for an easy and beautiful way to tour the island. On this 2.5-hour open top train ride you’ll get the opportunity to see parts of the island otherwise unavailable to tourists. The train ride offers specialty cocktails and beverages, sweet sugar cookies (to bring the theme back around the sugar plantation days), and even a short performance of songs by the onboard choir.

6: Relax and Say Spa

Book an appointment in the one room, open-air oasis at Mango Orchard Spa on Otley’s Plantation Inn. This small bungalow is perfect for letting all your worries just float away. With sweet smells of local flowers blooming all around you and the light ocean breeze swinging through the trees, it will only take seconds before you’ve relaxed into your treatment. And when you’re done, don’t forget to look around in the gardens and trees on your walk back to the pool. There are known to be dozens of monkeys hanging around.

7: LOBSTER (and other delicious seafood)

If you’re a (sea) foodie, you’re about to go to lobster loving heaven. Almost every restaurant, from bathing suit wearin’ beach bars to five start luxury resorts, serve lobster and it’s delicious at each and every spot. A few of our favorites: Spice Mill, Carambola Beach Club and Mr. X’s Shiggdy Shack.

8: History and Views

After a few days on the beach and in the pool you’ll want to stretch your legs and see the island. One way to get incredible views and squeeze in a little history is to visit Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park. This fort was built on a mountaintop and offers some of the best views of the island.

9: Affordable

While the adventure levels are high and the resorts are super luxurious, there is still a way to visit this Caribbean Island and keep your budget balanced. Rooms at the Marriott St. Kitts start at $180 a night and have incredible beach access and a fun lively pool. Ottley’s Plantation Inn offers package deals (sometimes up to 40% off) and nightly rates starting at $190 during low season and $240 during high season.
